Every year, be it New Years or pre-summer, so many of us set those “I’m gonna get it together and get in shape/workout/lose weight” only to see them fail but a few weeks in. Now I’m not going to be one of those resolutions are stupid people; a new year is the perfect time to check in and evaluate where you are in life and there’s nothing wrong with having the want to make some improvements. The problem is we only see the big picture and this is one of those occasions when we have to look beyond the big picture.
Allow me to do my favourite thing and give you an analogy. Health and fitness is like a jigsaw; the end goal (big picture) is made up of hundreds of little goals (jigsaw pieces) and every time you complete a little goal, you get one step closer to that big picture. The jigsaw NEVER comes out the box completed, you have to figure out how you’re going to build it, and then be prepared to work your ass off till you get there. It’s hard work yes and probably not the “lose weight fast with no effort” solution most people try sell you, but if you pay attention, you’ll see the changes. Sure they’ll be small changes here and there but with time and effort one day you’ll realise the picture is complete!
In short; dream big but start smart and start small and remember Rome wasn’t built in a day; it takes time to craft a masterpiece!
So (to stop my rambling) in the spirit of New Years (and the early summer) I’ve collated all of my “One Step at a Time” posts below into a handy Resolution Revolution starter pack! Each one is a simple suggested step or idea in working toward your health and fitness goals!
